As part of the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as a part of the disabled and neurodivergent community, making space for everyone benefits us in having more ideas, better solutions, and more compassion.
What you see is what you get. I always present myself the way I am in real life too. Being true to who I am is integral to maintaining my own mental health. I advocate for others to be themselves as well as for mental health causes.
There have been multiple times throughout my life where humor is all I have left. There’s nothing I can do to fix the situation, but I can certainly make it easier to deal with by pointing out the humor in the situation.
Hey, thanks for stopping by! Finarina Knitwear has a special place in my heart as a way to express my creativity through the fiber arts. You will find knitting patterns as well as different graphic art I’ve created for me, and want to share with everyone!
I’m American and Portuguese through my dual citizenship. Married with children and dogs, I knit and crochet during my free time. While I do crochet, I have more experience in knitting. I’m not ready to dive into the world of crochet pattern design, if ever! I also have a passion for pencil sketching and casual story writing.
I also love to work through tough times using humor, as laughter can be a great medicine. That led me to creating a fun social media presence around silly videos about the things we go through as fiber artists.
Mental health advocacy is very important to me. I work with local groups to present to different organizations to break the stigma on having mental health conditions and being able to have a positive impact on your surrounding community.
You can learn more about me as a person and knitter here. I also talk about where “Finarina” came from as well as my other activities such as podcasting and secondhand yarn.
